The UV sensor monitors UV intensity, which is of particular health-related interest, for example to assess sunburn risk. By adding this sensor to your Vantage Pro weather station you can display UV index, dose rate, and daily and accumulated dose.

An improved diffuser design allows for a cosine response of +/- 4% at zenith angles 0 -90, or whenever the sun is above the horizon; while a two piece housing minimises radiation heating, allows convection cooling of the sensor, and prevents the trapping of water or dust.

      • The UV Sensor is comprised of the following components:
      • Shield - The outer shell shields the sensor body from thermal radiation and provides a path for convection cooling of the body, minimising heating of the sensor interior. It provides a cutoff ring for cosine response, a level indicator, and fins to aid in aligning the sensor with the sun's rays.
      • Sensor Body - Houses the following components:
      • Diffuser - Provides a weather-tight seal and excellent cosine response.
      • Filter - Provides the Erythema Action spectral response. Encased in multiple hardoxide coatings, the filter is stable in the presence of heat and humidity.
      • Detector - Contains a semiconductor diode that, with the filter, responds to radiation only in the specified wavelengths.
      • Amplifier - Converts the detector current into a 0 to +2.5V signal
      • Operating Temperature -40° to +150° F (-40° to +65° C)
Spectral Response 280 to 360 nm (Erythema Action Spectrum)
Cosine Response ±4% of reading (0° to 65° incident angle); ±9% of reading (65° to 85° incident angle)
        Supplied Cable Length 0.6 m
        Housing Material UV-resistant ABS plastic
        Dimensions 51 mm x 70 mm x 57 mm
        Weight 226 g
